Mechanical Polishing for High-Purity Tubing & Components
At Cardinal UHP, we offer precision mechanical polishing services for both the interior and exterior surfaces of stainless steel tubing, fittings, and custom components. This process is essential for reducing surface irregularities, removing burrs, and preparing components for ultra-clean environments in industries such as semiconductor, biopharmaceutical, aerospace, and high-purity laboratories.
Our mechanical polishing process uses controlled abrasive techniques to achieve consistent surface finishes that improve:
- Cleanability
- Corrosion resistance
- Surface smoothness (Ra reduction)
- Weld prep and post-fabrication refinement
Following mechanical polishing, we perform nitric acid passivation to restore the passive chromium oxide layer, ensuring the component regains its full corrosion-resistant properties. This combination of polishing and passivation is critical for maintaining the integrity of stainless steel in ultra-high purity (UHP) systems.
We meet or exceed industry standards such as ASME BPE, SEMI F19, and ASTM A967, and can tailor surface finishes to meet specific Ra values or customer-defined specifications.
